Frequently Asked Questions
When is peach season?
Peach season begins here in mid-May and runs through Labor
Day on average. This depends heavily on the weather and that
year’s crop.
How many different varieties
of peaches do you grow?
We currently have 50 different varieties on our farm. We are
constantly adding and deleting varieties as new, better
varieties become available.
How many acres does your
farm consist of?
We have about 2400 acres in production making us the largest
in the southeast and capable of handling orders large and small.
How many peach trees do you
have?
On our farm we have about three hundred thousand peach trees
producing the freshest, sweetest peaches anywhere.
Where did peaches originate?
The U.S. produces about 20% of the world's peaches. However,
peaches were originally from an area near the city of Xian,
China. They were cultivated in China at least 3,000 years ago.
Peaches spread to Russia and Persia (present-day Iran).
Alexander the Great and his armies found the peaches in Persia
and brought them to Greece. Most Europeans assumed that peaches
came from Persia. Over time, peaches were spread all over
Europe. The Spanish then brought peaches to America. Today, the
peach is grown in at least 64 countries worldwide.
How do I purchase Titan
Brand peaches?
On the front page of the website you will find a link to
buying Titan Band peaches whether you are looking for wholesale
or retail.
What is the best way to
store peaches?
Peaches are extremely perishable and have a relative short
shelf life. They should be refrigerated when received. It is
best to store them in the bottom of the refrigerator or in the
optimum ripening temperature range.
What are the differences in
red and white peaches?
The color of the actual flesh is the most obvious
difference. Some of the other differences include sugar content
and firmness. White peaches are much better eaten as a whole
peach and have to be handled easily as they are quite tender.
What is the difference in a
freestone peach and a clingstone peach?
A freestone peach means that the seed in the fruit is a
whole seed and will separate from the flesh easily. You can
break open a freestone peach and remove the seed in one piece
making them much easier to slice for a pie or just to top with
some ice cream.
